July 10, 2018 — Attempting to lower fraud and improve customer experience at the same time may be easier than it sounds.
Ryan Wilk, VP at NuData, wrote a report issued yesterday by PaymentsSource disclosing that as the option of buying online, and picking up in the store (BOPIS) is seen as convenient, but may contain inherent security risk. As increased numbers of consumers ask for tracking across all touchpoints, BOPIS arose as a method of attempting to give this additional convenience, and was initially thought to be secure. Fraudsters have began exploiting this, due to identity fraud of the buyer through stolen PII purchased on the dark web.
Identifying consumer behavior and interaction patterns helps e-commerce companies to protect their accounts without inconveniencing the real shopper. Customers are identified by how they interact in a session.
