June 22, 2018 — As cybersecurity awareness grows, so does a preference for authentication forms alternative to passwords.
Robert Capps, VP at NuData, wrote a report issued yesterday by PaymentsSource, disclosing that in a recent survey by research firm Blink, and authentication company Trustona interesting stats were found about biometric adoption. The data collected shows that 80% of consumers are interested in using biometrics because it is safer, in addition to 52% of consumers wanting a modern log in method.
These statistics underline the need for companies to adopt safer, and simpler methods of authentication. With methods such as physical biometrics in conjunction with risk based authentication to create multilayered solutions, blackhat fraudsters can effectively be thwarted, and mass-scale bot attacks can be brought to a minimum.
This shows that consumers are ready to move from passwords and usernames to more secure authentication methodologies.
