Vancouver, British Columbia, June 23, 2018 – NuData Security, a Mastercard company, announced today that Hanhan Wu, one of its data scientists, has been included in the nominee shortlist for the 2018 Future Stars of Tech Awards by Information Age. The magazine emphasizes the importance of women in technology and seeks to champion emerging industry leaders with this new award.
“Future Stars of Tech is all about identifying and celebrating the next generation of female tech leaders who are already in the industry,” said Nick Ismail, editor of Information Age, the host of the awards.
Wu, who joined the company only a year ago, has already proven to be a key member of the data science team, aiding the company’s growth through data mining to successfully improve NuData’s technologies and drive innovation in fraud prevention, detection, and mitigation. For this reason, Information Age has nominated her in the prestigious Data category.
From 2013 to 2015, Wu worked full time as a data scientist at Microsoft, successfully developing many data science, data engineering, big data, and data visualization projects. Meanwhile, she also designed and implemented an intelligent SQL spinning system to allow computer systems to know when to create or kill SQL Server jobs based on computer resources, to improve system efficiencies. After leaving Microsoft, she continued working on her own projects in AI.
In May of 2017, Wu became part of the NuData Security team – an award-winning behavioral biometrics company for online security – as a data scientist.
“It is truly an honor to be listed among such amazing women and learn about how others encourage their female team members – whether as managers or not,” Wu said upon learning of her nomination. “This is a great opportunity, and I am so lucky to have such a supportive and respectful management team that appreciates the roles that all of the other women in the company and I play.”
NuData is proud to showcase the achievements of all their employees and is supporting Hanhan in this exciting endeavor. Wu attended the awards ceremony in London on June 20, 2018 to support the awards and her fellow nominees.
