Search Security: Yale data breach discovered 10 years too late

July 31, 2018 — The compromised information includes Social Security Numbers of staff and students.

Ryan Wilk, VP at NuData, comments on a report issued yesterday by Tech Target’s Seach Security, disclosing that the breach, which occurred at some point between April 2008 and January 2009 was just recently discovered, despite the massive 10 year time gap. In 2011 all of the information was deleted from the Yale database, but was already taken by the bad actor.

Malicious actors are learning not only to access a system, but also to do it without leaving a trace.
