Infosecurity Magazine: Telefonica Calls Authorities after Massive Breach

July 17, 2018 — The Spanish telecom company suffered a major data breach, potentially leaking millions of records.

Ryan Wilk, VP at NuData, comments on a report issued yesterday by Infosecurity Magazine, disclosing that Telefonica, one of the biggest telecom companies in the world, suffered a data breach after realizing a flaw in their security systems. Not only was personally identifiable information exposed, but so was some banking information. The company does not yet know if a fraudster accessed the data while it was exposed.

This sort of data exposure is why so many organizations who transact with customers online – from the banking and finance sector to e-com and major retailers – are layering in advanced security solutions, such as passive biometrics and behavioral analytics.
